COUNSELLING AND PSYCHOTHERAPY
Counselling or Psychotherapy?

There are many similarities between counselling and psychotherapy.

The task of counselling is to help people to resolve their "here and now" problems and to share thoughts and feelings which are sometimes difficult to express and are locked up inside us.

Psychotherapy includes these things but can involve a much deeper exploration of ourselves and our personality. This can enable clients to change decisions made very early in childhood and unhelpful or unwanted patterns in their life.

Ordinary everyday issues can be helped by using counselling and much deeper long term problems usually require psychotherapy.
